Over all just a bad school. Needs a lot of fixing. Specially in the administration.

As a current parent of Thornton HS, I am aware of the issues it has had in the past with teachers and discipline. However, my child is a current student there and under the leadership of the Principal Tony Ratliff. I am very happy with the quality of education my child is getting. I love his enthusiasm not with the parents but with the students. If there is ever a problem, he definitely finds a solution right away. He has done a Joe Clark on the school and I look forward to the remaining years my child has there.

Thornton is one of the best high schools i know, and i don't understand why people look down on the school. Thornton holds some of the best academic excelling student there is in Illinois and they also have some of the greatest athletes in the USA.

To: Greatschools- Please let me know the problem if you remove my review. I am a Thornton Alumni Class of 1991. Thornton was and still consists of mediocre teachers disciplining students with few if any great teachers inspiring students. I understand being professional with students but most teachers were cold and the school was soulless. The only time the school showed any interest is when I was absent. (The school receives funding for student attendance). I am combat veteran and found my time in Iraq more enjoyable. Being a great teacher is very challenging work. These teachers are not up for the challenge. I understand good teachers are costly but bad teachers cost more.
