My son has had special education services prior to entering Spencer Loomis as a kindergartner, and the programming & support he has received while enrolled here has helped him make incredible progress. He has had amazing teachers that are engaging and professional, going above and beyond to help him! It is clear the school strives to be inclusive, meeting students’ individual needs in a very appropriate manner. Our learning experience here has been an incredible one thus far!

Two of my three children recently attended Spencer Loomis. The staff is not diverse nor is the student population. It was a bit of a struggle to get resources to address differences in learning. One of my children had learning difficulties which were known from an early age. He ended up in middle school still reading below grade level after years of support. The middle school stepped up and now he is on grade level after only two years of support. The parents are extremely supportive and will do anything to support the school and kids. They are a huge asset to the school. The school is definitely headed in the right direction in terms of their learning strategy. Once they step up their game for students with special learning needs, they will be top notch.

I have a relative who attended this school last year and came to SL gently advocate for my sister-in-law, who's child was being bullied. I was rather shocked and disappointed that the front office basically refused to even schedule our meeting with the principal because he was 'booked for weeks', even though she had never once met with him before and it wasn't a peak activity/season in the school. Other staff also downplayed the problem. Ultimately, my nephew was the one they moved, instead of handling the issue, they 'reduced risk'. I will never move my children in to this school district. Test scored are so deceiving of whether children are getting the education they need.

Spencer Loomis has some skilled, caring educators. Unfortunately our new principal does not respond consistently to parent concerns and has not shown interest in nurturing a caring, welcoming school culture. Order and test scores seem to be her number one priority. I have found my children's individual teachers to be capable, caring and responsive, but I worry about their morale in this environment.
