I drive my son to the bus stop but today 4 other kids stood outside FREEZING(it was 25°) for 40 minutes! The roads were(still are) literally a sheet of ice. I called the school at 8:10am(bus should be there at 7:45am)and got an attitude when I said that the kids that were waiting outside were freezing. No one could tell me when the bus was going to here. Just that it was coming. Children (11 and under) had to wait out in the cold from 7:40am(some have to be early because the bus will leave without them and some parents don't have cars) till 8:20am when the bus actually got there. I put my son on the bus when she got here but when she got stuck at the bus stop trying to turn around then even needed salt thrown under her tires move; another mother and I went and took our kids of the bus. She even slid going 5mph trying to stop! How was school not cancelled? The bus driver even said that was her second time stuck today!I called my son into school. I was not risking his life just to get to school. My son, who has perfect attendance, now has a tardy because the school would rather risk the children's lives rather than have to work an extra day in the summer.I called the superintendent because I wanted to know why school wasn't cancelled or why they didn't call to say how late they would be, Or even that she was running late and about how they could give my son a tardy because I wasn't risking his life..The superintendent didn't care at all! He called to tell me it was my prerogative to not put my son on the bus and he will be getting a tardy. I told him I have pictures of the man having to put salt down for her to even move( I really do have pictures!) After that who would put their kids on that bus ? He didn't care and is giving my son, who has perfect attendance, a tardy. He said I could have drove him! I slipped walking out of my place...I really wasn't driving my Caviler 20 minutes away on country roads that are covered in ice. I'm flabbergasted at how little they care about these kids!!! I never got an answer as to why no parent got a phone call. He pretty much told me there was nothing I can do, and if I put my son's safety first, he's punished. My son gets awarded for his perfect attendance, and now my 9 year old is very upset that for his own safety, he won't get his perfect attendance certificate! Safety first! Always! Except at Milton Pope!

I would rate it a 9 out of 10. I am very pleased with the teacher involvement with the students. The Jr. High English program has greatly improved and prepare the students well for high school honors curriculum. The teachers and staff really seem to care about encouraging the children to do their best. Also, even though the class levels are smaller than the large schools, they offer lots of extracurricular activities.

I would not recommend this school. Even though most of the least favorble teachers are no longer part of the staff, it is still does not deserve much praise. Stories from this school are almost unbelievable and laughable (except that your chld is supposed to be being educated).
