Fry Elementary School

Kindergarten and 1st grade were fantastic. 2nd grade was a nightmare that I hope no other parent ever has to endure.

We love Fry Elementary! The teachers, staff and PTA are top notch.

Fry is so academically driven that their is no room for fun or special events or field trips. While other schools around the district are going to the zoo or aboretum on field trips; Fry may bring in one in-house "field trip" for the year. While other schools in district are having Mother's Day tea, Fry cancelled their event due to lack of funds. It doesn't take any funding to have the students sing a few songs and give their mom an art project. The School's culture is to keep parents out. Most of the teachers do not welcome volunteers in their classroom. Also, I find many of the teachers lazy. They don't go above and beyond to do the little extra special activities. The teachers also only write comments on the report card for one marking period. I find that is out of complete laziness! As a parent that is not welcomed in the school, I feel that 2 or 3 sentences on the report card for each quarter is not too much too ask. If you request a 2nd conference for your average child in February be prepared for the teacher to look at you like you're crazy! I had one teachersay to me "what specifically do you want to talk about regarding your child?" I believe it is their job to give me some information regarding my child! They shouldn't make me feel bad for wanting to know my child's strengths and weaknesses. Every child has areas that need improvement. If you want a school that is not warm and fuzzy and doesn't encourage parental involvement then you found the right place at Fry!

We have been with this school for 3 years now and our kids love the environment and their staff is great. I cannot expect a better school than this elementary school. Fry is the best in Naperville Area...
