I rate this school at a 0 because the principle is not a good one. He doesn't care about the students at all.

I love WMS, but there are some things that are kind of..not great? Homophobia and racism are a common theme with my peers. Thankfully many teachers have been a HUGE help. Honestly the only thing I hold against the school is it's academic perspective. Sure we need math, gym, and science but all of those and more NEED to be an option. The gym teachers push us way too hard and when I need a break they yell at me. I constantly get cramps. They force us to do 15 push/curl ups a day, make us jog around the gym for five minutes straight, and we have the pacer and the mile EVERY QUARTER. Not cool! I have some heart and respiratory issues and they don't really seem to care about it. I know we need exercise but we don't need to run a mile or know everything there is to know about sports. I'm not an athletic kid. Also, I don't think we need to know fractions and decimals in real life. We need basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division skills to get through life. Unless some of us are going to NASA. Science is cool, but do we really need to know about what's inside a pen? Science should be about animals, and space, and LIFE. Not just humans. Anyway, I love this school but I'd love for some things to change here.

wms is a good school. You can get a good education, if you try. Me coming from a very strict family that demanded straight A's I did very good in school. The teachers will challenge you only if you want it. If you don't they won't waste their time on you. I think everyone's favorite part is the trips like in 6th grade Camp Timberlee, 7th grade Springfield and 8th grade Washington D.C. Band has overnight trips for two years and one year is just a one day. And chamber and chorus and show choir also go on trips with and without the band like to Yorktown mall for charoling and the zoo. This year for chamber we went to a Chicago Wolves hockey game and sang at the beginning at our seats which were front row and on the jumbotron! Our family and friends could come and it was amazing. Also this year wms is allowing phones in class that you can use only with the teachers permission. We also have amazing dances that the student council plans that we elect at the end of the year and it is always successful. We have spirit weeks where we have things like pajama day and sports day or crazy hat or socks day. We also have twin day which is my personal favorite. You can also join sports when you're in 7th grade but anyone can join band, chorus, chamber, show choir, jazz band, intramurals, art club and yearbook. There are sports for both genders like volleyball, softball, basketball, and girls cheer and dance. For academic purposes you can be in mathletes and junior honor society which I have been in for my 3 years. I am also in volleyball, chamber, chorus, jazz band, band, cheer, mathletes and national junior honor society. Many kids are very welcoming and it will be so emotional to say goodbye in June.

Teachers really care about teaching. Great communication between teachers and parents. Teachers email parents about upcoming assignments and tests. Very good kids. My daughter made the high honor roll.
