It's a National Blue Ribbon School! Great, competent and caring faculty and staff, beautiful facilities, cooperative and supportive parents.

Our kids attended Longfellow for three years. It was absolutely superb with a truly invested and caring staff. Parental involvement made it a true community and a wonderful place to raise our kids. Our kids really miss it. The one thing lacking was diversity - both socio-economic and ethnic. However, I did appreciate one of our teacher's efforts to create cooperation with the few children who could not attend special events due to transportation constraints, etc. It really felt like a "family".

The beloved principal, who earned the blue ribbon status, has retired. Since, the new leadership has been riding on the coat tails of her predecessor. The school has not progressed in the past 5 years & in many areas has digressed from excellence. The overall quality of the teaching staff is disappointing. While I can count a handful of truly outstanding teachers this school employs, most of the aging staff does not seem to be striving to improve instruction or inspire students. At least one teacher is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Despite the obstacles that the school faces, a firm foundation for improvement still exists. The facilities of the school are excellent. The building is less than 10 years old. The technological resources available are also fantastic. The parent support is excellent! A vast number of parents are directly involved in the day to day activities of the students from volunteering as reading buddies to shelving books in the library to running after school activities. The generosity of spirit & financial resources the school & its students receive from the parents is amazing! Wish I could say more, but the site has a1200 character limit...
