We moved to Woodridge three years ago, and both the neighborhood and Goodrich school have been excellent! My kids have both loved all of their teachers, and actually enjoy going to school. Dr. Scaletta is a great principal! Absolutely positive experience.

I can only say great things about this school. We recently moved to the area, so we didn't know many people around. My daughters immediately made good friends and love all their teachers. They have so much fun that they never want to miss out on a school day. My oldest daughter participated in the 5th grade Outdoor Ed program and loved everything about it. I love how the learning is individualized and that kids can grow at their own pace, making the learning experience a meaningful and relevant one.All the teachers so far have been amazing! They are easy to communicate with 1 to 1 as well as a weekly communication where parents receive a summary of what the studrnts learned that week and what's to come.Music class and the school concerts are something we always Iook forward to. Art, PE, Book fairs, the Monster Mash for Halloween, all the extracurricular activities, the faculty, administration staff, the principal, the PTO... like I said from the beginning, I can only say great things about them. They are all wonderful! We love Goodrich Elementary School!

After being a student here for over 7 year I can say that the educational experience is nothing more than basic. The school offers art, music, and P.E. And depending on what grade your child is in, what they learn will differ from year to year (I.e. one year they might learn social studies, and the next they might learn vocabulary instead). And the teachers at Goodrich are unbelievably biased, with most choosing to lean towards female students. But the principal really seems to care about each and every student. At Goodrich they have a reading program called AR, where they are tested on books they read. This has basically destroyed my love of reading, because, of the huge emphasize placed on how important it is to read a certain amount of books in a set amount of time. And sometimes they don't even offer quizzes for American classics like Tom Sawyer, but offer quizzes on very obscure books with obismal ratings. And the majority of the teachers there have a short temper. But despite all of this, the teachers really try to make learning more fun, and try to engage the students.

The Principal is awesome. The communication with parents by both the administration and teachers is done weekly. Parents who want to be involved are readily included by the PTO. The Principal attends almost every PTO meeting! The gifted programs need attention. The student / teacher ratio is a bit high, but comparable to nearby schools. The test scores are surprisingly low. The kids are learning, not just learning how to test. These kids will be successful in life. The 5th and 6th grade buddy program is awesome for K and 1st grade students. My kids feel safe at school, and I never worry about their safety. The teachers seem to truly care about the kids.
