My kid has been attending the high school since freshman year as a school choice student. Coming from an urban school setting, I had high hopes for this school. Unfortunately, I am so disappointed. Aside from the wonderful art teacher and a couple of good English teachers, I find the staff to be just so-so re: teaching quality and enthusiasm. The let their best science teacher get away. The principal, retired from another school, is uninspiring and it seems as though the kids have no respect for him. He actually pulled a student out of class and lectured them about why they should stand up for the pledge of allegiance, even though that is supposed to be voluntary. The PTA is made up of a small group of parents who do not welcome newcomers. They just want your money. The male gym teacher creeps my kid out. They send out notices with spelling and grammatical errors all the time (this is a school) and they often haven't responded to inquiries I have made. Drama program is popular but the teacher is quite old and very eccentric and my kid is initimidated by her and she only does obscure plays. I do like the guidance counselor for the 11th and 12th grades. Kids are nice.
