I graduated several years ago and am an attorney now. I enjoyed my years at Western and am very happy that I attended there.

I am having a wonderful time here at WSHS

I am a graduate of the class of 1992 from Western High School. I am proud to be a Western Dove and the traditions of the school run deep. It is unfortunate but also not surprising that some people have had issues attending and being a parent/guardian of a student attending. It is not surprising because Western is not for everyone and it is not perfect. It wasn't perfect when I attended and it was frustrating at times for me and my family. Even with that said, I opted to transfer my daughter into the 11th grade this year. I did this because I know that without a doubt I learned to be a woman who knows that I can do anything I set my mind to, I am not a second class citizen and I am entitled to my rightful place in society. I too have had instances of frustration while trying to resolve issues relating to my child's education but what I am doing instead of just complaining or downgrading this institution is trying to figure out where I can be of service (which is another value that Western taught me). I am not to be a part of the problem or see a problem and not find out how I can assist with keeping this school intact. I understand that we all are allowed our opinions and I respect that even if I don't agree. So all I can say is, see where there is a deficiency and see if you have a plan of action, a recommendation, some time to donate to aid with continuing to build this great institution. I love Western High School and I am so PROUD to be a graduate, mother of a current student and hopefully grandmother of future graduates.

I graduated from Western in 2013 during the height of all of the fluctuation with entrance criteria and our horrible principal. I chose Western because I knew that it would prepare me for not only school but for life. Honestly, this is Baltimore city and you are always going to find some kind of unruly students needing home training or some kind of lack of funding, its a system wide issue. HOWEVER, despite this, our teachers go the extra mile to prepare us. I can say that the classes I take at my university now, are of a 9th grade level at Western High, and no matter what types of courses you pursue in college and beyond, Western prepares you for hard work and dedication. No one should be deterred by unruly students in she is dedicated to her own education. I am proof of this and so many other Western Doves are, we have to be in order to even making it through middle school in the BCPSS to even GET to Western. So stop crying about loud mouth girls, they come in ratchet, but majority of you will leave with class and quiet dignity. Take it all as a learning experience. Good luck :)
