My child has been going this this school for 2 years now. Although the teachers are good/great, the leadership leaves a lot to be desired. The school has class dojo (an app utilized to communicate with teachers and for the administration to communicate to parents). Even with this technology the school does a very poor job communicating information like award ceremonies, concerts or any other special program happening at the school. There is no notice that comes home or communicated on class dojo. But, if there is something going on like movie night, a dance, anything that is profitable there is a notice sent home as well as multiple reminders on class dojo. I have asked questions about the lack of communication and have not gotten a good response. I consider myself an involved parent and I ask questions to gain clarity because I am not in the education field however, the administration has not met me half way. There was a lock down at the school with police on the premises and parents called to inquire and was rushed off the phone and hung up on. Parents were asking questions on class dojo and were told that it was a drill which was a complete lie. I do not trust this school's administration with my child's safety nor education. My child came to me and asked to go to another school. I have never discussed my concerns about the school with my child. This was a request made without my influence. Please make another choice for your child/children

The faculty, staff and leadership of this school are simply outstanding - particularly since Nicholas Ohlson officially took over as principal this school year. My son went through some very difficult times last year when he reluctantly transferred from another school entering fourth grade. But his teachers, counselors and IEP team - as well as his fellow classmates - opened their arms to him and made him feel welcome. The school works very hard to put their Title 1 resources to work for the students. Given the Common Core standards, and my child's challenges in picking up core subjects, this was very important to us. The school was very committed to make sure he had the support he needed in math, reading, and social studies. You can tell many members of the faculty truly care about these kids and love their jobs. As my son prepares to enter middle school this fall, Samuel Chase has my deepest gratitude for caring about us like family. Special shout outs: Ms. Brandi Watts, Mr. Paul Dube, Mr. Darryl Inda, Mr. Mark Simms, Mr. Randy Esparagoza, Mr. Matt Kendell, Ms. Shennelia Bethea, Ms. Andrea Keene-Williams, Ms. Rain Young and the front office staff for the amazing work they do every day.We will always be grateful to you!

This is my daughters 1st year and all I can say is WOW. Her teachers are EXCELLENT. They pay attention to her behavior and academics. She is ahead of the curve on many subjects and loves her teachers. She even looks forward to going to school every day (whines when she cannot).I can tell you I was skeptical at first based on past reviews, but all I can say is PARENTS don’t judge a book from someone else perspective. Check it out for yourself. Also, the new principal is AWESOME. She listens when you have concerns and sees that they are addressed quickly. I look forward to the remainder of the school year. Also, the PTA is doing great things as well. I am trying to get my schedule clear so I can join. Hope my review has helped a little. I am proud my daughter goes to Samuel Chase Elementary, Home of the might Bulldogs.
