For my time with being in John Hanson, it has been a wild ride, a fun one though. Sixth grade was great, made lots of friends, had some good teachers, but the VP's were insane. In Seventh, the teachers were AMAZING. Especially, Mrs. Sherman, she loved her students and made class fun, and easy to learn and pass. She did fun activities and had a great personality. Had the same math teacher from Sixth for Seventh (moved to teach all grades advanced) she was great. She did hands-on activities sometimes and made sure that everyone was caught up, and up to pace. She also was funny and overall had a blast in her class. I'd say the only classes I didn't enjoy were science as my teacher was very easy to get mad, and blamed the students for being talkative when she put us all at the same table (friends). Eighth grade has been great so far, classes seem great, so do the teachers, and it's also great to see your old teachers there and say hello. The new VP that replaced Ms. Tillotson is great, as Tillotson wasn't very good, she'd always yell and boss students around instead of leading them. The new principal has also been great, as Ms. McCormick always seen as un-enthusiastic and very old, and traditional with things. The new principal has re-done our motto, very enthusiastic and very funny as well, making the students very productive and easier to get in and out of lunch and overall more enjoyable envoironment this year. Best year so far, and the last one.

Terrible! No Consequences for bullies, teachers and administrative staff look the other way.!

The principle has no knowledge of how to be a leader for the school. Students are suspended without proper investigating situations. Students are treated as guilty mindless idiots and not as children developing to be this country's next leaders. Middle grade students are on the edge of developing into young adults. The principle should recognize her role in assisting in their growth in a more positive manner.

I have been going to this school and here is my honest opinion on it: it has many problems. Now, this school isn't entirely horrible, I have to say, it has excellent teachers. They are kind, funny, helpful, and they actually seem to care about you (although the vice principals are a whole different story). The main problem with this school is the other people who go there. They simply are a terrible influence and if you go to this school you will be put in a BAD environment. The students that go here come from a bad neighborhood and you probably won't go a day without hearing foul language. The people at this school are not accepting and are in cliques. Many people are bullied, and there are some intense, actually kind of scary fights. The kids can't be controlled, and to be honest, they don't really care if they get expelled or if they fail a class. Rules are broken every day, and many things are done behind the teacher's back. Now, not all the kids at this school are bad, there are some truly nice, accepting kids. They just are more rare. As for the gifted programs... Language arts is excellent, but Social Studies and Science are pretty bad. All in all, I don't recommend JHMS.
