My family has lived in Richmond for multiple generations and we all went to Richmond schools. The families who have lived in this town for many years tend to favor certain families over others. Outsiders are not really welcome in general. But if you are exceptionally talented or wealthy you can find a place in their circle. Bullying has been passed down from generation to generation. Teachers and staff turn a blind eye to bullying and refuse to believe their favorite students are bullies even when they see it happening. Infact, sometimes the teachers and parents are the bullies. They have no time for kids they don't see as special, talented, and athletic. The reason Richmond has a lack of funding - The older people ( the highest percentage of those who take the time to vote) say they will not vote for funding because their children are grown and they don't want to spend money on kids they don't care about.

I'm a freshman at Richmond High School and have been going here since 5th grade. Anyone in a half mile radius of the school has to walk, which includes me. With the horrible winters that we've been having, there's of course ice and snow. Well, Richmond High School does not salt their parking lot or sidewalks, so you are eventually going to fall. Walking to school is a short walk, but not good at all during the winter. The school parking lot is small and there are always cars racing around the parking lot, almost hitting people with no cops near the school. The teachers are okay but I can say that the average classes at this school would be advanced at any other school. All the school cares about is sports and we have pep assemblies every two or three weeks. The school also has a lot of discrimination and bullying from my point of view. It's okay, but if I had the choice I would send them to a different school.
