It's ok. The school is aesthetically in good shape, teachers are qualified. Classes are large and impersonal. Some teachers communicate well, others do not, and you will have little idea what is going on even if you are good at emailing and communicating. Every year is a jackpot and inconsistent. It's ok but have considered pulling all out for more opportunity.

I have multiple children who attend Long Meadow and we all love this school! Great principal, great staff, exceptional and hardworking teachers. The students are kind and friendly. School has a warm and welcoming environment. My kids are thriving here.

We were very excited to enroll our children at Long Meadow given the past reputation of the school, but were extremely disappointed and after one year, moved to a private school. There seems to be an issue with funding and providing adequate resources to teachers on a consistent basis. In fact, we saw teachers being hired to accommodate growth in the student population and then let go midyear due to funding issues. Not only is this confusing for students, it places an undue burden on the remaining teachers and their support staff. Unfortunately, this was not the only issue. Long Meadow does not offer a gifted program which was a shock; this is a fairly affluent community and many parents have post graduate degrees. There also appears to be a "box" for students to fit into and when they don't, they are labeled "difficult" and "out of control" when the real issue appears to be teachers who are not equipped to deal with students who need a different approach or more attention than they are prepared to give. Overall, this school was a huge disappointment and leaving was the best choice we could have made for our family. I am hopeful that Long Meadow will make the improvements necessary to bring it back up to where it once was or at least on level with other elementary schools in Rochester.

The teachers and staff are beyond amazing. The parents up until now have worked together. This school had a tight knit community feel. My concern this year is the new anti parent policies implemented by the new principal who felt it was appropriate to bring her former elementary school's policies with her and change the atmosphere that so many families cherished. Parents and caregivers are no longer allowed in the building to pick up or drop off their children. We will no longer be able to interact with the staff. I think in the long run, policies like this will weaken the bond between families and their school. And when these bonds are broken, there is always the possibility that parents will donate less time and less money to an organization that doesn't trust them. That translates into less resources for the children.
