I’m just curious....as a former parent who witnessed the bigotry and discrimination of former principal of Oakley, Michael Benigno—-why does his personal LinkedIn profile still state that HE is the principal of Oakley?

We moved here from an elementary school with the highest possible rating. I was honestly concerned from a distance based on the scores. But we have had an incredible experience at Oakley. The test scores are due to a part of the kids coming from socio-economic disadvantage, BUT pay attention to the growth because this school is catching these kids up by the time they head to middle school. And if you are involved parent you will have nothing but great experiences with this school. Great specials, we particularly like the STEM program. Also a great AIG program with options for kids starting in 1st grade. An amazing little community school!

Our two older children attended Oakley from kindergarten - grade 5. One is now in high school and the other just started middle school. Both have excelled in their school achievements and I credit the fantastic leadership and dedication of Oakley teachers and staff. We have been actively part of this school community for almost ten years and I have always been highly impressed with the quality and dedication of the teachers and leadership. We look forward to continuing our relationship as our two younger daughters attend Oakley.

The staff at Oakley are the most dedicated group of teachers I have ever come across. They rise to every challenge presented to them with cheerfulness and huge ability. This is a place where truly no child is left behind, not in the government sense but in the real world sense of every child being developed to their full potential. My son was there until middle school and I would have no hesitation about sending other children there if I had any. Parents are given every opportunity to participate in school events and in making school decisions. Considering how underfunded NC's schools have been for a long time, Oakley does an amazing job that any business wold be proud of.
