We had a wonderful Kindergarten year, first grade was a nightmare. Classroom behavior was so disruptive that each student received a bad report each day in their agenda, because the kids couldn't function. No response for communication about the disruptions. It's near impossible for the students who want to learn to be able to. The PTA is down to two board members, and there's only a few roles filled- they too left for greener pastures. Saxton is sinking the ship- school was a 9 four years ago, and here were are at a 5. Easy to see why folks say move to the Cabarrus side in Highland Creek. A night and day experience!

Need I say more? We love this school. You can research all you want and base your decision on a school with a higher score. Numbers do not tell the whole story. If you want your child to educated while learning to be a well-rounded person, this is one school that does just that.

My child had an awesome teacher this year. Everything else was lackluster. I felt inundated with daily emails and phone calls. Most times I didn't want to answer my phone because there is constant soliciting of funds. I felt that the events only benefited the residents of Highland Creek and not the surrounding communities. The PTA president doesn't respond to any communication via email, phone or text but they will cash your membership check.

My child is in 1st grade. Despite its score, I am not really impressed with the school, although the ASEP staff is fantastic, and dedicated to the kids. Communication is not the school's forte; in several instances, it has been difficult to get feedback from the teacher, from the PTA, and from the Principal as well. The last winter/Christmas party consisted of feeding the kids ice cream, and playing some inappropriate music (i.e. Chris Brown among others); that was to say the least disturbing, lazy, and showed a lack of accountability by the school's administration. Finally, as a public school, the relief of HCE should not consist of favoring the Highland Creek HOA, as shown by the future demographics.
