I loved my experience at Vance. The guidance counselors were my biggest problem. Just throwing Art students in any class and putting kids who don't care in art classes.

The experience has been positive and my sons enjoys attending this school

My son was at the school for a week. When I dropped him off one morning, he told me that he feels unsafe and that he always looks over his shoulder at the school. Then, 2 hours later I received a recorded message from the principal that a student came to school with a loaded handgun and drugs. I’m glad that the security dealt with the child before any harm occurred. However, that was my son’s last day at Vance.

Vance High School is changing for the better (at a slow pace I admit) but the communities are still trying to keep stereotypes and rumors alive without any evidence. The school is becoming a place where students are still to take control over their education and their lives.
