horrible, by far the worst ever experienced

Gravelly Hill Middle is an excellent school with extremely well qualified teachers (many NBCT's) and counselors and the communication between parents and administrators has much improved (as well as the website) since my daughter was in 6th grade (she's now in 8th). The band and chorus teachers are fabulous and dedicated. The building itself is relatively new, clean, and provides enough space for every student. We are lucky to have room for all students. I know many schools do not have enough desks, chairs, etc. due to growth in nearby counties. The track coaches are wonderful, as well as others. The field trips, especially this year, have been great; age- appropriate, interesting, and relating to curriculum and the "coming of age" for teens. There is less "free time," b/c it's middles school...take electives or participate in an after school activity. I would also advise volunteering at dances or on field trips to get a real feel of the place. Staff has worked really hard to build a community and I can say that has happened for many 8th graders and I say "thank you!"

the people that run this school, run it like a prison. the students don't have any free time at all. they don't get to use the lockers like they need to and the lunchtime is like being in bootcamp. they don't get to sit where they want to. they don't have the time to eat. they are rushed in and out of the cafeteria like a heard of cattle. they don't get to talk with their friends and are told to hurry up and eat quickly. it is not a wonder that my son comes home everyday saying that he is so hungry when i get home from work at 5 pm because he didn't get to eat hardly any of his lunch. this school has had 3 different principles in 3 years time. not a good track record at all. it use to be good when mr. johnson was there but since he left, this school has gone totally down hill. it isn't the school like it used to be when it first opened. it has gotten really bad in the last 2 years. i'll be so glad when my student is done with this school. feel sorry for the students just starting in the fall.

This school is amazing. It is always so clean and sanitary and the teachers are extremely well educated and kind. This school also provides many options for students in their elective classes. This is a truly great school.
