We have had 4 kids go through Southeast Middle School over the last 15 years. I have found the teachers and staff to be excellent, caring and compassionate. It is a beautiful school with a fantastic music program, challenging academics and top of the line sports available. My kids were very involved in clubs like the Art Club, Beta Club, Chess Club, and several of them played soccer, basketball, wrestling, and volleyball. My youngest son even started a frisbee club there with the help of his wonderful teacher, Mr. Howell. SEMS will always hold a special place in the Hinshaw Family's hearts. Thank you for helping us raise our 4 kids....and I thank God for all the teachers and staff there. Michelle Hinshaw

I am very disappointed in this school. My son is on the football team and there was an incident with several boys holding him down while other punched and kicked him. When I went to administration and the coach about the situation and how the kids called themselves a gang I was informed that it was more of a hazing. The punishment was missing get one game and iss for these boys. My son has now been threatened by several students and the lack of control and punishment is beyond words. It had not only happened to my son but three other players and it happened last year also. I was very disappointed and have since called the board of education but as of the past few days nothing had changed. The suggestion I got was to consider changing schools for his safety!!!

Before my Son started this school last year, I had heard so many horror stories and was so afraid for him to start 6th grade here. I was so happy when things weren't like that at all. My Son is in the advanced classes, so that may make things a bit different in the classrooms. But I am so happy with his teachers so far :)
