My son was transferred from a 9-rated school to Knightdale in the middle of his 4th grade year and it was obvious. The difficulty of his school work went down tremendously as well even though he was learning the same topics, in their respective subjects. I haven't had any major issues with his teachers, but I have had a few problems with teachers who teach some of the kids I watch after school. For instance, one little girl I watch DID NOT comprehend her homework most of the time, could not spell simple sight words, got 1's on most of her school work, but was awarded (yes, awarded) 2's & 3's on her progress reports and report cards. Why???? Does this make a teacher look good if their kids are passing, but can barely read and write?!? This is the one of the most frustrating things I encounter at this school - kids being GIVEN grades, not earning them.....and it's not fair for those who actually do earn them.I will say that I am much more pleased with the office staff this year though - much more personable, and if you're child HAS to go to this school and is entering the 5th grade - request Ms High! She is an amazing teacher, so far, and will try her best to prepare your child for his/her transition to middle school. I am very grateful for her!!!

We love KES. I had two boys here. I one is going into 5th grade and the other was in the AU pre-k. Overall, we have been very pleased with my older son's education. My younger son in the pre-k program was beyond blessed to be at this school. If you have a child going into the AU pre-k you will have the honor of working with some amazing people, including the Autism Society of NC teacher and teacher-assistant of the year. The principal is fantastic and truly has an open-door policy.
