The "parents" who wrote the good reviews here are positively clueless, because this must be truly one of the worst high schools in the country. The principal has absolutely no history or professional training in educational administration (good luck finding any C.V. on any of the administrators or teachers on the school's website)--and she constantly twitters Bible quotes (being a Christian hardly qualifies one to be a high school principal); the students have no textbooks (in English classes, the teacher reads aloud parts of books; the students are not required to read any books themselves--I wish I were kidding, but I am not); they learn NOTHING about American history, other than about local personages such as Robert E. Lee (I challenge anyone to quiz a history class at this school on even the most fundamental knowledge of either WWI or WWII: the answers you get will be guesses, or "we were fighting the British"); there are no handouts because the school says they can't afford the paper; the teachers--with few exceptions--are sub-par, offering the students haphazard or no intellectual challenge whatsoever. The school boasts a relatively high graduation rate, but it means nothing: many of the students they "graduate" are semi-literate, at best. In fact, it is the norm at the school just to push students through, regardless of their capacities. The entire institution needs an overall; North Carolina's children certainly deserve better than this.

I went to Louisburg High School for all four years of my high school education. I came from the Atlanta, Georgia Metro area six years prior and fter reading the poorly written reviews on this site, I feel the need to stick up for my old Alma Mater. You see, Louisburg High school, like one review said is just like any other high school out in the country. The School Board of North Carolina spends most of it's money on Wake County Schools, so you will not see a bunch of fancy new fangled things there - but the teachers and stuff try their best with what little they are given. And like with most things, every place has their strengths and weaknesses - Louisburg's strengths are the wonderful Band program lead by the determined band Teacher Brian Miller, and the other is the English department. I enjoyed all my English classes there, along with being a dedicated band student. I will agree though, the faculty do seem rather concerned with strange things but hey, it's high school.

There are hardly any supervised, organized clubs and not even a drama club in the school. The clubs that do exist are haphazardly run. The student population is uncooperative, the punishments for dress code infractions are non-existant and the school administration depends too much on Social Services, DHS and the Sherriff's department to do their work for them. Horrible, horrible school. I only wish we had the opportunity to put our 3 kids elsewhere. I saw a 5-star post from 2004 that raved about the great teachers, administration and academic programs. Something really bad has happened to this school because for the past 4 years, we've seen absolutely nothing except dissappointment, frustration, lack of concern and a militant attitude toward parents who TRY to be involved with the administration on behalf of their children.
