This school used to be ok but now it is just filled with bullies and drama. The teachers don't keep order in the classrooms. Since I have switched from the school to another one I have heard that a new principal has came to this school so it sounds like it might be getting back under control.

My Child has been targeted by teachers and other staff every since he started middle school 2 years ago. He is hyper and talks a little bit more than he should but does not deserve the punishment that he has received while in this school. He has been suspended for talking during class and also has been threatened by the principle to be paddled(which I thought was now Illegal), There is a teacher in the 8th grade who tells my son she hates him every time she sees, but since he has been the Bad child so to say since he started that school the principle called him a lair over it. My personal opion of this school is that the teacher bully the children who don't always act on their best behavior. O yea did I mention that my son has ADHD which means that he sometimes can not control his out burst that he has been punished for. The only thing I am trying to say is that there is a lot worse my child could be doing other that talking during class. They have drugs in thats school, fighting, bulliing and they call me everyday becuse my child talks during class, what does that say about the school system in madision county, not to metion their overall test scores, My childs final report card for last year consisted of 30's and 40's but somehow he managed to be promoted on to the 8th grade, I'm not sure how he did that, but i'm pretty sure he was just passed on to get rid of him. I am in the process of speaking with an attorney on this matter if anyone else has, dealt with the same kind problems as I have please leave a review about it, If we don't stand up for our kids then no one else will.

Madison Middle is a good school. I have always found that you get out of something what you put into it. My kids put their learning above everything else. Sure, there are kids who have problems-- but the teachers have done a great job providing educational instruction to my kids. Their biggest complaints are with the problem kids-- the bullies and behavior problem kids who disrespect the teachers and disrupt their day. The school system is underfunded, the county provides no supplement, so we are lucky that we get the high quality of teachers we do have. It's also hard going from a small elementary school to a larger school that requires more independence of the students. I believe it is part of the learning process to learn to handle oneself amongst a variety of egos, personalities, skill levels. Many years ago when I was a student I begged my father to send me to a private school with more "kids like me," and he replied that I could learn to deal with people now, in a protected environment, or later, in the big world. Small, public, rural schools face these problems, especially in poorer communities. But I think the school does very well for what it has to work with.
