I think this school is improving greatly. The current principal is very focused on academic achievement , which is what the school needs. This is a lovely school in a small, middle-class neighborhood, and many of the parents who send their children to Woodmere have grown up here. While this is a testament to the quality of life and education families can expect here, it also creates an atmosphere which seems to value traditions and social connections above academic matters (at least some of the time!). The good news is that the superintendent and principal have made some great hiring decisions and the faculty has pulled together to become a strong and professional team.

Is not at all helpful when it comes to the children. Especially, when a child just needs a little extra help, their ready to just throw the towel in and put your child in remedial class. I am very upset with the staff especially and teachers. Not all teachers are like that but the one I have for my child is. I was told she can't teach extra for the children that needed the help because she has 20 students. Well in a restaurant you have more than 20 customers but do you think they can only serve just the ones they want????? NO!! BE EQUAL TO EVERY CHILD NO MATTER THE RACE. I AS A PARENT HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS TILL I CAME TO WOODMERE ELEMENTARY. ITS NOT FOR EVERY CHILD BUT FOR A SELECTIVE AMOUNT OF CHILDREN.

We love this school - as my husband attended it 30 years ago - it has a strong sense of community. We feel our children are in a safe enviroment while learning to become strong people.
