Canfield is special. Thanks to parent participation guided by the wonderful Friends of Canfield organization, Canfield I provides a well-rounded education that goes way beyond the common core. Thanks to programs like art, gardening, p.e., drama, music and community circle the students receive a well rounded education that develops them as students and as people.

Excellent school. My daughter just graduated 6th grade and her class going to 4 different area schools. All the kids have been placed into either G&T programs or placed in advanced level math and science. This is only because of the commitment of their teachers in elementary school. The culture of the school is also respectful and inclusive. Although I think these kids are a bit too sheltered compared to area schools. But, I cannot complain...my kid is very well prepared for middle school. Lets see how she does in middle school.

Administration is a joke. They do not do anything to solve the problems with the students in the school. There is no discipline. Seems pretty fishy that the superintendent is related to the principal. Talk about job security. This school is behind other schools when it comes to student growth. Students are not learning as much/as well as other districts. Do not send your kids here if you truly care about their education.

The teachers are excellent, the upper grades are challenging and the teacher expectations are right on the mark for most kids. The lower grades could use a little more focus and guidance from the admin. The new principle and superintendent have made changes that are very welcome and frankly about time. Kids love their school, can't wait to get there, join every club, every musical opportunity and every sport they have to offer. The camaraderie and excitement is palpable and a welcome change from the moaning that has taken over american education. These teachers roll up their sleeves and get on with it and they have all the support they want from admin and parents. Extremely lucky that we landed here!
