Facts: the language arts and math test scores are among the highest in Sussex County despite it being the lowest income district in the county, the teachers truly care about every single one of the students, the school has expanded to 8th grade. Plus...one of the teachers has been named Sussex County Teacher of the Year and one of the paraprofessionals was named Sussex County Paraprofessional of the year. All the staff are exceptional.
The teachers are top notch and push the students to do their absolute best, yet honestly genuinely care for each and every one.
I also have a child with special needs and have had a great experience in this school. You don't need to be a bully to get what you want and need for your child. If any of the people writing these reviews were involved with the school they would see just how great it is! Every parent needs to be involved in their child's education. There are always teachers you aren't going to like, but my kids have had most of them and I can say those are few and far between. If you are involved with your child then it's a great school to be a part of, it's like family. If you want to cause trouble then yes you won't be welcome with open arms, who can blame them?? I would recommend this school to anyone who wants a small and personal place for their child to grow up. It's a great town with a lot of involved people who care about more than just themselves.
This school is one of the worst in NJ. Paterson and Newark spend more money and have more programs than Montague does. This schools needs to be taken over from the state. The students are about a year behind than the rest of the schools in the state. So if you move out of Montague plan on having trouble with your child keeping up. If you are moving here from another district plan on your child being bored and ahead of all the others. Special Education progams are a joke. Your child will not get the services that they need. Unless your child has mild learning problems, prepare to enter due process. There is a reason that many students go to private school and many more homeschool. Your child will get a better education in any other town in NJ. Skip the drama and move to Sandyston, Wantage or over the boarded to Milford. You will be much happier and your child will thrive. Don't let Montague damage your child when there are many great schools in the area.
