Buzz Aldrin MS is a top notch Middle School and is getting better since Dr. Sack arrived as principal. Assistant Principal Jennings deserves as much praise. They really have done a great job at implementing Buzz as the STE(A)M school in the district. It's in a great area of Upper Montclair with a fantastically diverse student body. They have a great core staff as well as electives and after school options in Robotics, Sciences, Art, Dance, Theater, and more. The kids I know absolutely love attending Buzz Aldrin MS! The only thing I would ask for is air conditioning and professional audio in the auditorium! Highly recommended!
The staff at this school grade according to their like or dislike of the student /or parent. If you were to take the grades and match them to the work completed for each individual student you would find the specific areas to which the teacher graded indifferently. The staff doesn't realize that students talk to one another and see these differences.
My child, now in 7th grade loves going to Mt. Hebron. There are many technology and robotics electives and clubs to choose from. There are also many non-tech electives to choose from such as art, design, theater, band, writing, and more. The after school choices are great. Most importantly, the core courses of LA, Math, Sci, and SS are doing a great job of preparing my child for HS. I've been particularly happy with the Language Arts teacher, Ms. Murphy in House 1. She keeps the kids reading and writing. My child really knows how to write great papers now! Fantastic! The new principal, Jill Sack is doing a good job implementing the "STEAM" and other initiatives. Kudos to Mr. Taylor for all his hard work developing the robotics program.
i thought the teachers were very great. However, most of the students were very mean, especially those in house one
