After leaving a school in another state in which my child was nurtured and supported from the minute they arrived at school until the minute they left this school is utterly lacking. I am seeing so many sadly mistaken parents reporting about how wonderful this school is and I believe it’s only because they don’t know any better. Total lack of communication, reliance on children to come home and report adult situations, old outdated paperwork sent home leasing the parent to look foolish when using outdated information and one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing. Also, the busing company is horrific. Leaving kids in the cold, no communication of lateness, drivers who look like they shouldn’t even be allowed to drive a car let alone a bus. Don’t waste your time with this school. If you can move farther to avoid dealing with this!
Great school. I went to school here as a child and now my children do. The teachers, staff, and administration are excellent. They do the best with what they have to work with. Only problem/concern I have is that several years back they sold their bus fleet and now contract out. The company and people are great, it's that most kids now dont have option of free bussing to school. There's no school in the area that's competes with staffs/teachers participation , experience, knowledge, and professionalism.
My step-son and step-daughter transferred to VECC in October of 2008. They both had many struggles with learning. Due to the compassion, support and communication of the amazing teachers at this school they are showing great improvement and beginning to love learning. My daughter has been attending the school since February of 2007 and has been on the A/B honor roll for 9 Marking Periods in a row due to the excellent teaching methods and dedicated teachers and staff.
