Tarkanian might be good at something, but teaching is not what they're good at. They run the school like a factory, offering no recess or time for kids to relax and socialize between classes. Teachers are overworked and do not take the time to actually teach. They go through the material quickly and rely way too much on the ability of parents to help with homework. The principal answers the easy questions with pre-digested answers but chokes faced with intelligent questioning. Our son is in accelerated classes and we have been trying to meet with his Math teacher for months, she has been canceling regularly or simply would not show up in meetings. We are both working in Higher Education and that could explain why they seem unwilling to meet with us. When we did meet with them, they pretty much blame everything on the kid but refuse self-examination. Assignments guidelines are usually vague and unclear and many require parental guidance. This school simply does not do a good job and ignores all scientific findings on pedagogy and education. Feels more like a factory than a school.

The 7th grade teachers are nice some make it fun like Ms. Glismsn although I’ve already blown a balloon with baking soda it was better than my other schools which were all about tech and paper nothing hands on. I don’t now what the problem was but, I wasn’t learning efficiently some things were simply too easy but most were not, mind you I have always been 2 years ahead than everyone since I loved learning the things my siblings were learning ( I was in elementary) but here I felt like I was behind, I’m not sure if it was because I registered into the school at a wrong time but It was miserable. I hated it on my very first day a teacher asked what school I went to before So I said which school I went to which is a that school has a bad reputation of ‘delinquents’ but it was the very best school out of all the schools I’ve been to which is a lot, and that teacher replied while showing me where to sit “Oh. Its way better here.” The tone in her voice was insulting.

I could not dislike this school any less. My son also hates this school. There is no positive leadership or guidance coming from the administration which reflects in why this school is failing. Students are treated so poorly at this school, it's heartbreaking! In just 3 months at this school my son's test scores dropped 70 points. Special ed students who should not be left unsupervised are left unsupervised, which has caused serious student injuries. Teacher's do not honor confidentiality and discuss your child's disability with other students. Other students have stated they have observed disabled students being harassed and mistreated. If your child needs speech therapy, good luck! If your child needs occupational therapy, good luck! If your child needs any sort of support, good luck! If you have problems with staff, good luck! Principal and Vice Principal's refuse to remain professional and put friendships above accountability. They segregate disabled students even during orientation by offering no appropriate supports so that they can participate like neurotypical peers. They also require you to pay teacher's to attend orientation even though they are salaried employees because they don't hold orientation the Friday before school starts like every other school in the valley, when teacher's are back from break. Other school's also hold a free bbq to those families. If all of that isn't bad enough, staff get caught in their repetitive lies by emailing parent's instead of staff. Complete incompetence at this school! Disgusted that I have to send my son here!
