I’d give FHS a 9.5/10. My experience was beneficial and life changing.
I loved Freeport High School. We had so many programs, and extracurricular activities while I was there. The teachers are gems, as well as most of the staff. I know this school gets a bad rep, but honestly I have little to no complaints, other than the fact that they switched out guidance concealers 2 years in.
Worst Experience. No Preparation give for college whatsoever and was discouraged from applying to places other than Nassau Community College, the military, or worthless state schools. Students at this school have no brain cells because of how ineffective the teachers are and music or the arts are neglected for useless sports that will get no one anywhere.
I'm a 2008 graduate and I can honestly say FHS was a great school to attend. I enrolled into Freeport my Sophomore year after attending private school. My teachers were great role models and influenced me tremendously. Two of my siblings attend FHS now, and they are both enrolled in AP and honors courses. While there are sometimes fights, etc if students truly apply themselves (like in most situations) they'll get the most out of their education. Freeport High School and Freeport district schools for that matter may get a bad rap, but honestly it's one of the best kept secrets on the Island.
