North Shore Middle School

This is a fantastic warm school that truly cares about the students. We came from a tiny local private school and we were very concerned about the adjustment for our child. The attention that our child received far surpassed the small exclusive private school that she went to. The entire staff was motivated to see our daughter succeed. The parents are lovely as well. The principle and vice principle are amazing!!! I feel like it is a hidden gem.

I wish I had gone to a school like this when I was a kid and I'm so happy my child is having such a rich and wonderful experience. The teachers follow up, and respond by phone and e-mail questions super quickly. It's really amazing. They are fair, honest and caring when it comes to grading and I've seen them give up their personal time to set up chairs at plays and musical performances and parent events. The student body has a nice ethnic mix and isn't full of crazy parents who are selfish or demand special treatment for for their kids. Its a wonderful small community. Finally the principal, office staff and even the cafeteria workers are reasonable and nice people. I feel so lucky to live in Glen Head and have my child in this school.

Teacher sent me an email criticizing my son and comparing him to a student that she favored. She criticized his learning style, his mastery of the subject, and his personality of not sucking up to her as the other student and parents had done. The principal took her side against my son and granted her tenure even after I shared the outrageous email. The superintendent took the principal's side as well. That is this ridiculous school district in a nutshell.

I really think this school is amazing. I really used to hate school but when I moved and came here, the teachers and students were really welcoming. The teacher does what ever thay can to help us. They also have great achademic programs for every one, and tons of community programs.
