My experience has been wonderful! One of the best environments that I have been a part of.
My children have had a very positive experience after we entered this school district. The teachers I had dealt with are exeptional and truly student-centered.
I went to Goshen my whole life. Overall it is a pretty good school. Teachers are very hit or miss--some are amazing and really go out of their way to help you and some milk their tenure to the point that they barely show up or show any interest in making kids pass. It's easy to make friends and bullying isn't an issue. The only thing I had a HUGE issue with was the guidance department. My counselor was James McLoughlin, who is supposed to be the head of the department, yet he screwed up SO many things for me and made applying to college difficult. I can't name one time he helped me in the 4 years I had him.
The school has a lot of advanced and honors classes and provides good education, for most classes. Very few teachers just lack the excitement of their job and it affects most of the students, it bothers me. A lot of the students are really intelligent, hence the many honors classes and a lot of students just lack in their work (it's pretty much half and half). And I haven't seen any bullying and if there is, the teachers take good care of that. There's excellent sports teams, especially soccer, just not so much football. The student ethnicity, is like almost 85% white, it's like going to an all white school. No problems with that. The dress code is barely enforced, I saw a girl the other day wearing practically a bra and in the summer girls wear extremely short shorts and the teachers don't do anything about it. You're allowed to have phones out only in the hallways and kids take advantage and use it in the classrooms. The electives are great but the clubs are boring, unless you're a social bird. If you do many sports and many honors classes, it's hard to manage but I'm the laziest person alive and I'm doing great. Oh, and the hot lunch is repetitive but they have a sandwich bar.
