I attended this school for a semester, I was promptly removed after I missed, I think it was 5 days. I've always been resentful of the fact they chose to remove me from their program rather than attempt to identify the problem. After being sent to the Village School I was still heavily involved in sports, clubs and various other after school activities at Great Neck North. This is a great school for one reason: the teachers. Other aspects of the school are mediocre at best. The PTA is full of many extremely high maintenance mothers who seem to form bizarre mom-cliques and put too many politics into innocent school activities. The sport's department isn't very well funded, their after school programs are vast but sub par. GNN's theater department is it's most notable attribute and even then, it falls second to GNS's theater department. The teachers are amazing, they're some of the highest paid in the nation, if they weren't amazing, we would have a serious problem. The way this school maintains it's high scores is by doing exactly what they did to me. They send their "problem" children to a satellite school with it's own accreditation. Furthermore, most students graduate with Advanced Regent Diplomas without knowing they could graduate early with a normal 'Regents Diploma,' which you can argue isn't the worst con until you realize your sentience was all but ignored.Ignore my cynicism, as a matter of fact, take it as realism. Despite everything I owe my education to this school and district, I am infinitely grateful. At the end of the day, the teachers at this school are just so great, you will feel over prepared for college. You'll sit in your college classes wondering why no one else learned the most basic of concepts taught at GNN. Maybe avoid this school if you don't have thick skin.
Excellent school. Got a great education from there a few years ago. It wasn't until I went to college did I really appreciate my former high school. Classes were small. The teachers were really supportive, and I really enjoyed my time there.
pretty great School. Lots of resources are provided to help students thrive
This is absolutely a horrible school. I was always bullied by students in this school. They always disrespect my accent, and I was very hurt. I reported this harassment to all of the faculty members and teachers. I explained it to the assistant principal. No one ever did anything to stop it. I was not the only one who was bullied. I also knew so many other students who were bullied.
