i am very sad that the school is being worse and worse as more and more kids are refered as the burden of society and ignored after the long time principal left. With the new principal, more inexperienced teacher are getting in to make the situation worse.....

Lakeville suffers from an over-congestion of students. The faculty is overwhelmed by the ever increasing number of students, from a surge in Asian families upgrading from nearby Queens (e.g., Flushing, Little Neck and Bayside in particular). At Lakeville, each grade has roughly 9 classes, much larger than the other elementary schools in Great Neck, which have 3-5. As such, Lakeville had to move Kindergarten out to a different location (at Parkville with the pre-Ks). The parent community is fairly segmented and cliquey (families from working-class New Hyde Park in Queens zoned for Great Neck vs. affluent Lake Success vs. the others ). The teachers are, at times, frazzled and can come across as stressed. The student atmosphere is over competitive and parents can add to the tacky culture. The long-time principal, Barbara, retired this year, after earning a prestigious Blue Ribbon award, and has been replaced by Ms. Feldman.
