Hillside Elementary School

It's been a pleasure watching our kids and their friends grow up here. The parents are very involved and friendly. You can be as involved as you want to be, or not, but it's a lot of fun, especially the book fairs and the class parties. There are a lot of parents that still opt their children out of the state tests, and that likely skews the results on a site like this, but the kids are bright and engaged. My sons read all the time, love math, play sports and music, are curious, confident, present etc.

Excellent teachers, staff, and school board. Communication with parents is great.

The school is phenomenal. I could not imagine a better experience anywhere.

So far I have nothing but great things to say about Hillside. The negatives reviews are old and the people they mention in them don't even work in the school anymore. The new principal is amazing and she worries a lot about the kids. She is always open to dialogue and treats everyone with respect and consideration. The teachers are very nurturing and helpful and the children in general are kind and respectful. The amount of homework is very reasonable and the kids learn a lot. My girls are very happy and love to go to school everyday. Needless to say, Hastings is very down to earth and open minded community, full of smart, humble and friendly people.
