This school is beyond amazing! It has improved so much in the last few years. The ratings don’t mean a thing in my opinion. I am a student in the 8th grade, and I have had an amazing experience here at Hicksville. Me and my family moved from Plainview last year, and I have to say, it is much better here than Plainview. Plainview students are very obnoxious, and have some sort of fond for bullying. It was really hard to make friends. Eventually, I did get some friends in the 5th grade, but they turned out to be toxic. Here in Hicksville, they are very friendly, and don’t bully. I have made long lasting friendships, and I’m very happy. The teachers are super nice, and make learning fun. Send your child to Hicksville.
A 10! I have had several children go through the Hicksville school and they all did amazing. I would never send them anywhere else!!
I am an overprotective mother of a special needs child and while yes, there are a lot of students and yes there are other issues that you may have read, you can find this in any school. What you won't find in any school is the SUPPORT that both my child I receive from the Special Education Department,Guidance Department, Psych/Counseling services and her teachers; I can not say enough positive things about my experiences in working with them for the greater good of my child! They do LISTEN to my concerns and want the same positive future for my daughter as I do. THIS is not hype. This is written in hopes that I could ease the mind of just one parent of a 5th grader heading in to the middle school with special needs or not. We have made it halfway through 7th and she is making great strides. The transition is much harder for us than it is for them and while we may be home worrying, this is an exciting time for them. The greatest thing I have ever done for my child was to TRUST the process and allow room for independence! It is the hardest yet most rewarding gift you can give them. Good luck parents.
I am a student who is going into the 8th grade and may I say; this school completely and absolutely sucks. If anyone is thinking of sending their kids here it is a big mistake. I am in honors and most of the teachers that teach this form of education just toss whatever they don't wanna teach at us. In my regents classes, however, those teachers do a better job of explaining. I would rather be in all regents than in honors for this reason. I also did a sport. This coach had pushed us super hard. The coach had made us run until we had puked. Also, a lot of teachers swear and make racist comments during class. They also have us throw away our lunch if it doesn't also have a healthy food with it. Many teachers retire in the middle of the year so we get new teachers. Since the school needs peopl right away these newbies are quite strange and they make us students feel uncomfortable. Don't come or send anyone here. All I can say is I can't wait to be leaving this district next year. This school sucks.
