My experience at this school was that it was academically good, and fairly diverse. Graduated in 2015, went to Stuy after, which spoiled me a lot for school activities and extracurriculars, but I think they are fine for that as well.

In a academic standpoint, this school is fairly decent. Many teachers in this school are consistent, effective with their teaching, and are helpful, despite a few exceptions. This school also offers a large variety of programs like 3D Printing, debate club, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, coding, etc. However the rules in this school isn’t the most well enforced since there are rules that students don’t follow. For example, the school doesn’t allow students to use electronic devices without permission and in the building during school is in session but many students still use their electronic devices and not a lot of adults do much about it. Also this school can be very hectic when transitioning from class to class and during lunchtime. Overall, this school is a fairly solid school but the disciplinary can be slightly improved upon. 6/10

Beware!!!!! This school is very unsafe! Students are finding sharp objects laying on the ground of the schoolyard. Nobody clean the school's premises before they get outside for recess?

Nathaniel Hawthorne has a great learning environment. Teachers are professional, many activities to engage in and overall is a pretty good school. However, the bullying, harassment, etc. is a serious problem here. The lunch staff and some of the teachers show no discipline and are very unfair occasionally. The teachers tell you to sit down at your own table or else you will have detention. This is unfair. Teachers say that you should talk on your lunch time and not in class. "Lunch" is supposed to be the students free time and talk about stuff outside of school. These lunch staffs do not even give you the freedom to sit wherever you want, OR TALK. And if you get caught sitting in the wrong table, you get detention. Also, many of the teachers are unfair and have favorites. They also mistakenly wrong your for stuff that you did not do and do not even let you have a chance to explain. This school needs to get better staff, teachers, etc. Whatever needs to get more disciplinary attention.
