Ps 209 Clearview Gardens

I have had 3 children attend this school and have had a great experience throughout our time. The teachers are well trained, the lessons organized and hold the children’s interest. I have found the principal and assistant principal to be extremely dedicated and responsive.

The teachers are hit or miss at this school. Some are just lazy and will give the students busy work. Some are great but will give them work that are not age appropriate. One thing that needs to be changed is the principal. When my oldest started she was wonderful, but she looks miserable now. She doesn't care about what teachers are doing and doesn't follow through. She lets the teachers run the show and will not hear anything the parents suggest. The school doesn't have anything special for the students to do either. I heard other schools have special programs for G and T classes and even regular classes but this school just does the bare minimum.

Unfortunately, the principal and the teachers are stuck in their ways and will not listen to parents. The only thing that makes this school great is the PTA and the board members. Other than that, there's nothing special about the school. There are other schools in Whitestone and Bayside that rank better than P.S. 209.

Both my kids go to this school. One of my children are in the G and T program . So far with all the teachers both my kids have had , I have nothing but amazing things to say about each and every one of them. The school itself is truly outstanding !!! The entire staff is very friendly and very professional. They really go out of their way for their students, and most importantly the teachers make sure that learning is fun for all children. The fact that my children are excited to go to school every morning is just priceless to me as a mom !! Which parent wouldn't want that ? Thank you PS 209 for giving my children an outstanding education and an exciting , safe and very fun school experience.
