PS 1 is a great school. We have never had a problem and the staff is always so kind! So happy my kids are a part of this amazing school!

My son had been going to this school for 5 years. I was reading the intro and it said teachers to kids 16:1 I almost laughed out loud. guaranteed my sons in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade had 30 kids in each class. what they don't tell you is they have an absurd amount of CTT classes half special ed and half general ed so technically they have 30 kids in a class with two teachers! The first class he had a CTT class my son came home with headaches everyday. I just thought it was the work getting to him. It turned out that one of the special ed children would constantly scream hit and bite his para everyday. to top it off when the parents came into class to see how the kids were doing they would just remove this child from the class because they knew if we caught wind of it. they would have to remove that child out of the classroom! How sick is that! But for the teachers themselves some where horrible and others were great!! It's all luck! One teacher Tried to force feed my child something he is allergic to! ( almost killing him) he told her "no I can't have it I'm allergic to it." The teacher told him "your lying!" But my son stood his ground and wouldn't eat it! She held me back and spoke to me in such a nasty tone immediately telling me that my son is lying to her and it's only day one. I told her he is allergic to that and thank god you didn't make him eat it or he could have died! Instead of apologizing to me and saying she was wrong to do so. She tried to blame it on me! Saying I didn't write it on the blue card. I yelled at her this time saying she is nuts, of course I did! Where is the blue card let me see it... all of a sudden it's missing and she will have to find it... yea sure! Never produced it! Nor did she ever apologize! That's just scary to me! Also by the school I was told that 1st graders can't be bullied, it's impossible their to young ... after I informed her my son was being bullied and she needs to do something about it. I repeated her sentence word for word slowly and said will you put that in writing. After you do so, do you mind if I call the local news and give that letter to them and see how fast you lose your job for just uttering those words. Next day he was transferred out of that class. Thank god We moved

The school teachers at this school are awful. They don't know how to relate to children. If a kid that has a bit of difficulty or gets distracted for a second in their classes they recommend or imply that something is wrong with your child. My child is in a gifted and talented school now. If it would of been up to the inept teachers of PS1 their laziness and stupidity my child would be in a especial ed class instead. Do not send your child to this school. The worse school ever!!!
