WHUFSD is a reliable working/middle class district. They don't have a ton of money to spend on every student but they seem to do the best they can with the funding available to them. Like any other district, you're going to find some great people and experiences and some disagreeable ones. It's definitely not a dysfunctional district and WHHS is not a 'bad' school. It offers a ton of programs for students that are interested in seeking them out. (Their AP program is great). They've had graduating students receive scholarships and acceptances from places like Binghamton, Cooper Union, and even Harvard. The school has the programs available but It's really up to the student to push themselves to take their academics seriously. The school also participates in many community activities and social awareness. They have a great music program, science programs and a wonderful English program. PTA is very active as well. These are all good signs for a town school. Now it's up to the town's resident parents to inspire a larger number of their children to take advantage of these possibilities.

Being an alumni of WHHS, my experience was amazing.I don' t know about the other guidance cousenlors, but mine ( who was Mr. Alexander) was the absolute best. The teachers were very supportive and helpful and had an actual interest in their students. The principal was Mr. Escobar and I loved him! I'm very happy to say that I'm a graduate of WHHS and I would love for my children to attend the school district!

west hempstead middle school and high school our schools are failing our kids as programs are cut for the benefit of employees jobs are created for retired teachers who are sleeping in the class room teacher are neglecting the kids in the middle to fend for them selves . mr hogan should be removed and the distict should down size the staff and increase classes and by doing so to benefit the students only I am the parent of one who was getting accepted to an ivy league school not for the school program but my work as a parent and my child I am posting this to warm people with kids to move and find a school system that care for your and my child future and not the workers .I STAND BY MY STATEMENT OF FACT THAT THE GRADES OF THESE KIDS ARE ON AVG WELL BELOW AVG AND COLLEGES SHY AWAY FROM WEST HEMPSTEAD SCHOOL BEGIN AT 830 AM AND NO TEACHER SHOULD BE KEPT IF THE CLASS IS FAILING
