As a graduate of the last graduation class with a senior ring that has DHS on it instead of DEHS or DWHS, they do an excellent job preparing their students for college. In my freshman English class at PSU my professor will highly satisfied with my writing skills as well as research skills to write an excellent paper again and again with little or no guidance. Downingtown has great teachers and a wide variety of classes to pick from. Not sure if they still offer unique English alternative classes but War and Peace Conflict English was by far the most engaging English class I have ever taken. It made me interested in writing and the teacher was so enthusiast it truly made learning fun. Not sure if he is still teaching but Mr. Appel with the best!!

Downingtown East High School does a great job preparing kids for college. I have two graduates who did and are doing excellent in college. I have a senior who is doing very well All did very very well on their SAT's and had no trouble getting into the college of their choice.

Tough school district to say the least. Students here have grown up with one another and are very clicky. My daughter just completed her first year of high school here. We moved here from out west. She found it very difficult fitting in and making friends which was very disappointing since she was so looking forward to high school. Academics seemed to be very good but I believe you need an overall well-balanced environment to have a successful school. Not sure how the administration can make it any better. Just be aware it may be a rough transition for your child if you aren't from around these parts.

This school was a life-saver for my son. I transferred him over from a failing school district when we moved to the area. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! His behavior changed tremendously. I noticed a huge difference in the teachers/staff at this school. They truly took an interest in my son and his academic (and social-emotional) well-being! This is a great school!
