Sheridan Terrace El School

Great principal, clean school, secure building, experienced teachers, excelling test scored, SEAL program, great PTA program. Just won Governor's award. Mrs. Newell has really turned it around here and I think it is a better choice compared to Hauntown.

I was impressed with my daughter's first grade teacher. Mrs. White is an excellent hands on teacher that inspires with her teaching. Unfortunately, we have found her to be an exception to the rule. My daughter's second grade teacher left a lot to be desire. She had a great deal of trouble keeping order in the class room. With the start of third grade it is now apparent that we need to find a better choice for her needs. Since she is very bright, she was used as a gopher and tutor for other students. The principle lacks leadership skills to lead effectively, in my opinion. Mrs. Newell seems to be more concerned with things being equal than understanding that everyone has individual strengths. They are focused on teaching what is on the standardized tests over making well rounded students. We are removing our daughter and would not recommend this school if you are looking for more than average, or more than the attitude of good enough is acceptable. This school needs to worry less about what is on a standardized test and focus on science, math, and technology.

I've had two kids go through Sheridan Terrace, and to date (my youngest is a third grader), they've both had terrific experiences. The teachers are great. We have a new principal this year after our previous one retired, but there haven't been any hiccups. She seems even more hands-on than the llast!

I have sent two children to this school and could not be more pleased with their educational growth and academic achievements. The principal, teachers and parents provide a nurturing and supportive environment for learning.
