This school district is not a great quality school district; it's been like this for many years and it has not improved much in the last 20 plus years! In addition to this, the administration wants to pay the teachers 'higher salaries' than the homeowner can afford to pay in taxes. We are in the top 5 for Allegheny County as far as school tax is concerned and with the average salary being 25,000 to 40,000 in this area; the millage of 27.54 is much too high for this townships homeowners! There are many more quality schools in Allegheny County that aren't paying an average of 89,000 for a teacher with 10 years of experience and they have more to offer their students in academic programs than East Allegheny has overall. We are losing a lot of residents -as was pointed out recently with a township meeting due to the taxes being too high in this area; in particular the "School Tax for East Allegheny Schools!" Matter of fact the township is having difficulty getting businesses to stay in this area due to the high taxes here; thus many businesses are flocking to North Huntingdon and Westmoreland County! This school district is causing a lot of financial hardship on the homeowner!

I did not even want to give this school district an One rating! I had graduated from this school some time ago but I see nothing has changed and in fact it may of even gotten worse over time. The favoritism that goes on is just plain wrong, and what your last name is will depend on how happy you are there, because its all politics and always will be in that area.I would never suggest anyone who cares bout their child to send their child there, it was a nightmare for me and I still feel that way after many decades of being able to move away from there!
