We specifically left Weatherly for the reasons stated in the other review. Agree, way too small. Pecking order is accurate. The school does the best with what they have to work with. They hire questionable people. My standards would not include teacher assistant with 2 DUI's in 2013. I would rather the person aiding the children at the school making better choices and setting a better example. The teachers in the past were good. However, the teachers are retiring and they are replacing them with Weatherly born citizens with more of the same small town mentality. The town is so ignorant they have no idea how ignorant their small minds have become. It is all they know. The town in general has sub par standards. Defamation of character in the town/school means nothing to the people. The meaning build each other up is lost to this population. They tear each other down to make themselves look better. Any educated person knows, this does nothing but tear all down. As you enter the town there is a notice on any given day to attend the local meeting on what to do with the heroin epidemic. Run. Go anywhere but this school district. If you have made the mistake of moving into this town, be sure to check out MMI. Small school as well, but the mentality overall is to do your best. If you think you cannot afford MMI, think again. Just check into it, they do have financial aid. MMI is the better in the area but is not near the best in the state or country. You can make it work to your child's better future. Weatherly you cannot. You risk encountering extremely bad behavior that you have not idea how to respond in Weatherly. Run, just run. The good thing, they prepare the children for the PSSA's, your child will score excellent. When we moved I was told by our children's teachers the previous school obviously focused solely on PSSA prep. We moved to a top rated public school in the state of PA.

very small minded and uncultured area... Too small of a school... All the kids are like chickens in a pecking order and parents are much of the same

I specifically moved to Weatherly so my daughter could attend school. As a graduate of Weatherly, I knew that the school is more like a private school than a public school. As expected, my daughter has thrived in her 5 years of education at Weatherly. Her classes have ranged in the 16-18 level and all her teachers and the administration have been exceptionally enthused and creative in their teaching methods and use their own teaching materials to supplement the district-provided curricular materials. What is more, the school makes it a point that the kids have FUN learning. The PTA is active and thoughtful and really does not require parents to be rich. It costs nothing for a parent to volunteer to help with class parties or bake a few cookies. So, yes, Weatherly does have a private school atmosphere and the school board defends the high standards of Weatherly education without much drama and fanfare. Our taxes here are much lower than surrounding districts. The grounds of the school campus are beautifully maintained and every visitor comments on them. Money can't buy that ethic.
