This school does not include families in any events to include field trips. We attended field day and I could not even sign a waiver so my 5 year old could participate. The school we attended for kindergarten included families in lots of events and this showed my child that the teacher and I knew each other and were on the same page. It is not the same environment at this school.

My son has ADHD with trauma and is in the 4th grade. Have spoken with the school guidance counselor and with his teachers and they have made his problems worse. I am currently trying to get him counseling and told the counselor about the RIF meeting and she said that the advice given was not good advice and I have been disappointed about the fact that the promises made have not been kept by the school. On the other hand for my youngest is in 4K and she is doing well. For kids with no problems they are great but they do not handle children that have special needs or problems very well.

I find the school to be pretty good. I wish they would have a foreign language department so the younger grades can learn a language. I had a problem with a teacher/counsler calling my child lazy in front of her peers because she did not want to give out books and walk around collecting them before school started. When she asked the coounsler if it was okay for her to quite she was told No because her 9 weeks was not up. I was not aware that she was chosen to do this job nor give permission for my child to partake in such activity. She is 8 and gets up very early to catch the bus whose an A and B student. She is kind, sweet and doesn't need to be called names by a counsler whose suppose to be a role model and not a bully.

I wrote a review in 2008 when my son was in the 1st grade, he's now in the 5th and I am still very much please with Oakgrove. Academically he's doing great and has come such a long way. All of his teachers has challenged him to lear. Every year it gets better and better and he has learned so much. His 5th grade teachers are great and Ms. Price is still smiling and greeting the parents and the students. We have a great Oakgrove family and I remained blessed to be apart of Oakgrove.
