Around Spring Branch

The cost of homes tends to be slightly higher in the southern part of Spring Branch, where residents enjoy faster access to the highway. These homes are also just across the highway from neighborhoods like Hunter's Creek Village, and the houses clustered in this area are generally priced higher. Here, homeowners are within minutes of the nearby Memorial City Mall. Residents further north need to travel slightly farther to enjoy the same amenities, but these residents also enjoy access to the many parks that populate northern Spring Branch.

Homebuyers will find that this neighborhood is, on average, pricier than much of Houston. However, prices are fairly consistent with surrounding neighborhoods. Positioned closely to some of the more affluent areas of the city, Spring Branch boasts more than a few multi-bedroom homes in elaborate designs that command a higher purchase price.

For residents who would prefer to stay in the neighborhood for their dining, there are several restaurants along Long Point Road, which cuts down the middle of Spring Branch. True to Houston's diverse roots, residents will find Mexican, Thai, and even Honduran restaurants at which to dine. Simpler fare, in the form of buffalo wings and hamburgers, can also be found along the same stretch of road.

New residents will find that the neighborhood is quite different from one end to the other. One of the consistent sights throughout Spring Branch are the small parks that make the area appealing to outdoor lovers. Southern Spring Branch, while conveniently located along the highway, is also busier than parts of the neighborhood that are further north. There is more traffic that flows in from Interstate 10. On the other hand, the northern border of the neighborhood sits along Highway 90. Residents should expect more traffic in the areas of Spring Branch that are tucked along these major highways, while things quiet down inside the interior of the neighborhood.

Despite its distance from the interior of Houston, Spring Branch does enjoy a few popular bars and breweries that make it enjoyable on a Friday evening. Patio bars are beloved in Houston, and there are a few on opposing ends of the neighborhood where residents can enjoy dinner and a drink. It's an otherwise peaceful part of town where most Fridays are spent at one of the many restaurants around the area. However, residents are also close enough to nearby Washington Avenue that they can easily enjoy a late evening on the town if they want.

Along Interstate 10, residents can quickly head east for a visit to Memorial Park. Popular running trails cut through the area, and there's also an arboretum in the southern part of the park. The local tennis center and golf course also make for popular destinations on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Being so close to the heart of Houston, Spring Branch is well connected to Houston's public transit network. Connections along both Highway 290 in the north and Interstate 10 in the south can ferry people around the city. Along 290, residents can be carried toward Cypress, while along the Interstate 10 route, travellers can head west toward Katy or east toward the downtown area.
