After previously giving this school a great review, we have had a completely different experience at Croft. My main objective for writing this post is to agree with and back up a recent review I saw posted by a student, as I feel student reviews are not always taken seriously. The students perception on bullying and teacher/admin response to the behavior problems is spot on! We recently pulled our son out of the school as it was just beyond anything we could deal with any longer. Of course, with any school, there were a few great teachers who really did try to do what was in their power to rectify situations, but two of those teachers we considered to be among the most effective, have since moved to other schools within the district. I am also sure it works for some kids...just like any school could. It just did not work at all for our child and I know countless others who experienced the same issues with bullying, lack of response to behavior issues, lack of leadership, and apathy from staff. It was almost as if there were a few kids who could do just about anything and see zero consequence because they were seen as "popular" by teachers. That is appalling and not at all an adult like response to middle school behaviors. Middle school aged children are built to try certain undesirable behaviors and push boundaries...that is what this age is for. When teachers don't have leveled, unbiased responses to ALL the children you will see those behaviors fester and become worse instead of watching kids have opportunities to learn from their inevitable negative behaviors. Again, my main purpose here is to make sure and give a parent's perspective that mirrors the recent student review so that readers can take that review more to heart before considering this school for their child. Parents, listen to your children! They are wiser than you think.

Croft acts like a great school but it isn’t. Almost everything there is a lie... The teachers can not control the behavioral problems and students get bullied there everyday. I have experienced bullying on several occasions and so have the few friends I have. I get not everything can be perfect but the administration and teachers aren’t trying to help one bit. The problems there get worse everyday. Almost all my friends have moved out to private schools, tutorials, co-ops, or even Oliver Middle School. Many of the things they promote are not true. The school claims they do clubs which only meet about 4 times a year. The state they helps victims of bullies, but instead they make the problem worse. When it comes to punishing the students who get into trouble they punish the grade as a whole and the good students get lectured for nothing they did. They also say students work in harmony which isn’t true at all. Instead being together causes a bit of a Civil War. As have gone through this school 3 years and after summer wrapping up the last year, I’ve come home multiple days tired, burned out, upset, and alone. I feel like I have no friends and when I started at Croft I was a leader and extrovert. Over the years at Croft, I have become closed off, quiet, and introverted. The only thing I experienced that I enjoyed at Croft was the sports. If you want to go to a school with sports, Croft is good. But be careful before you get run off by everything else. Many students you will ask say they love it but it isn’t true. The teachers talk to and praise the popular kids which tend to be the bullies or out of control kids. Not always, but usually this is the case and sometimes they just don’t tell the truth because they are scared. This school isn’t as good as it seems. You can’t have everything in a school... but Croft could try a little harder. There is a reason this school has a 3 out of 10 stars. I would honestly rate it 2 out of 10 stars. Don’t waste your time. I highly advise you to send your children to another school. That’s all I have and hopefully my last year at Croft is better than the first 3 years.

My children have thoroughly enjoyed their experiences & learning at Croft Middle. I requested a special transfer for my children to attend this school due to our address being zoned to attend McMurray Middle. Several years ago I pulled my son out of McMurray due to a severe bullying issue with several children that was continuous & unrelenting. The problems arise with staff not being able to control the issues due to the kids being too afraid of telling anyone for fear of repercussions which makes bullying a never ending cycle. At the time my son was of smaller stature than most boys his age which caused him to experience the cruel nature of bullying. Once my son started attending Croft he was a different kid, his grades were back to A's, he had a positive attitude, more self-confidence, he got involved with sports & excelled, he made many friends & I finally saw the smile on his face again that had been gone too long. I never heard one complaint from him regarding a teacher, staff member or student. Croft Middle turned out to be a blessing for him & he flourished academically. Now he's a Freshman in college & doing great and my daughter is now currently enrolled in Croft & she's happy & doing well. I honestly cannot think of one negative comment. If I could change just one thing, I would have the car rider drop off line move a bit quicker in the mornings & I'd do that by having both car lanes open for drop off rather than only one. But that's my only complaint & I can live with that. I would recommend this school to anyone. I've been inside the school many times & I cannot recall ever seeing an unhappy student. Great teachers, nothing but positive experiences! An all around awesome school!

We absolutely love supporting our neighborhood school Croft!! It is a well-rounded school that allows our kids to be kids, while still challenging them. We have advanced academics, athletics, and related arts, all of which my son is involved in. The teachers and leadership listen to parents and students alike which is very rare and refreshing. In metro, we have the option of going to several different schools but I couldn't imagine going anywhere but Croft.
