I have two children graduate from Alvin High School. Both of them completed several of the excellent AP courses offered there, so I'm talking about the "smart kid" track. The oldest received a significant scholarship to the University of Texas at Dallas (not a bad school) and was well prepared for college. He didn't miss a beat, and was able to hang on to his great scholarship through his freshman year, when many students struggle to maintain the high GPA necessary to keep it. My youngest son is taking even more advantage of the AP and Dual Credit programs. He is already accepted to an honors college at UT/Austin. He has had excellent teachers at the highest levels - AP English, Chemistry, Calculus, and History. He has succeeded (4+) on every AP exam, which is a testament to the level of teaching here. All of this, and he gets to play sports too. Alvin High has been very good to him and to his parents. Kevon Wells was one of those great principals, and I hated to see him get kicked upstairs, but that's life in any institution.

my kids have jus moved here from a provate schol and they LOVE LOVE LOVE it they were easily excepted this is a place were nobody cares what brand you were and what part of town you live in the . The AP program is also excellent! and the coaches are very caring and understanding of there grades i.e they may miss practice for tutoring. i also like how they can not play with out passing the class. the principal is great there and it is well organized for such a huge 5A school
