This school is good but it could be great! The leadership at SLE is weak, short-sighted, and shows little interest in innovation and risk-taking. I have worked diligently with the school, as a partner, in the best interest of my child as well as all children at the school. I did not receive the same team-minded approach when it came to the best interest of my child. When leadership hides behind policy I get nervous. I understand policies are in place for a reason; however, when a program is limited to a certain 'label" or ethnicity of students while others have to walk the tightrope for entrance my eyebrows raise. I have been told one thing while another was done. Communication at this school leaves something to be desired. PTO suffers due to lack of interest, membership, and the ability to evoke positive change and opportuniies for the students at the school. If the school's leadership took an interest in making sure all students reach their potential, not just students who happen to be identified GT, I think that would be a step in the right direction. Labels are good for categorizing and tracking things but not so great at determining what a child can do when given the opportunity!

I like the principal her assistant. But the staff is really inconsistent. My kids also complained that some of the teachers yelling and being rude to students. As a parent I've experienced a few situations with my child's teachers who acted like they cared about my child's academics but showed otherwise. But, caring well meaning teachers who actually love their jobs are very rare no matter where you go. Every year is a hit or a miss! I hope they get the water fountains working not sure why this can't be fixed, It's been several years and the school is not even 10 years.

Savannah Lakes is a great school. My kids have had great teachers there. The office staff and principal are very helpful. I am so glad that my kids go there!
