Arlington High School

I have made amazing memories and will forever hold this school close to my heart.

We just moved from Arlington High to Carrollton. My son used to be really down on AISD but now wishes he was back for so many reasons. If we can get him back to Arlington High we will. You have no idea what a Great school and District you have until you leave. 1). There is a long tradition of Great joy and pride with this school. The school my son goes to now when the students come out of school no one speaks to each other. No one smiles. Driving thru tbe pick up lane is like going to a funeral. 2). All or at least most of the feeder schools that feed into Arlington high you know yiu have learned something if you apply yourself. At the school my son is now in many of the students didn't know if the pyramids were still around or how to measure fluid in a beaker. 3). Arlington High is one of the few schools that as an IB. This is important if you're serious about college. 4). People at Arlington high are very friendly and excepting for the most part. Up in Carrollton, extremely rude if you are not from there. If you try to talk to people like during lunch they look at you like you have 3 heads. Arlington they will talk to you, there is a lively group participation in classes. I have had two other kids who have graduated from Arlington High. They were prepared to go into major universities. I admit that yes, there are things that need improving, but you have a jewel of a school if you treat it right. If parents volunteer and get involved in all levels. Many schools do not have that. My son is miserable and feeling like he is not learning anything. He has no one to talk to where as he had many friends. The classes were more challenging. This is a Good school.

My daughter graduated from this school and it is one of the few schools that offer the IB program. She was able to graduate with her IB diploma and 30 college credits right out of high school. This saved her money and time. She attended UTA and received her Bachelor's degree in Science in 2 1/2 years. My daughter is very driven and a hard worker, so this school enabled her to succeed. They have great caring teachers that put in the extra time. She was in UIL spelling and the teacher had study sessions at her house with the students and provided food.

I graduated from Arlington High School in 2013 and am very pleased with the school. I was involved in newspaper, yearbook, photojournalism, golf, cheerleading, National Honor Society, and Key Club. I would not trade the experience I had at AHS for anything the world. There is a sense of community within the school and the students in clubs and teams almost feel like a family. Many of the teachers are amazing and inspiring, a lot of them are AHS graduates as well. I would recommend Arlington to any parent looking for the right school for their child. The faculty can sometimes be lenient, but can also be very strict when the situation is serious. Mrs. Young is a wonderful principal and has done great things at Arlington High School.
