This is our first year at houser and the experience has been lacking. The best thing about the school is my son's teacher. Most of the staff is rude and unpleasant as if they do not like their job. Nothing is explained to you on operating systems but will quickly reprimand. The few words that have been spoken to me by staff have been commands none of which were delivered properly. One of the art teachers talks meanly and disrespectful to the children. Calling them names for not following her commands quickly enough or will even kick them out of her class by themselves. We are talking 5 year olds here... If at all possible I would move to different district or go to private school rather than go here. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth about public schools and makes you feel your tax dollars are wasted.

We moved to the Conroe area 2 years ago from Orlando. Houser Elementary was a such a blessing for my family. My oldest son has Asperger's Syndrome and Tourette's Syndrome. The things he has been able to accomplish because of this school's help continues to amaze me. His 2nd grade teacher (this was the grade he was in when we moved) even went to a seminar to learn more about Asperger's on her own time. We fought for any and every little bit of help with the school he attended in Florida. The CISD diagnostition called me personally before we even arrived in Texas because she was already aware that my son would be enrolling in Houser the next week. This was at the end January. Before May of that year, the school/district already had him completely evaluated and called me in to discuss all of his results. A group consisting of the diagnostition, occupational therapist, speech therapist, vice principal, his teacher, and some other individuals sat down with me in a conference and went through every bit of the 25 page report they had completed. In August, we had an ARD meeting where they set in place an IEP for him. I finally found a school willing to fight for my son like me!

This august will be my daughters 2nd year at Houser and she absolutely LOVED school last year :) I loved her teacher and the principle knew both of us by name. the entire faculty and staff are welcoming and helpful. the school spirit for an elementary school is unsurpassed! My daughter flourished in this school's environment and i wouldnt change it for ANY other school experience. Her reading level is amazing, her maths skills improved greatly, and her excitement for school every day was very delightful to be around as her parent.
