My son's kinder year here was not so great administration wise. They got a new principal and assistant principal his 1st grade year and things at the school have made a complete 180! The new principal is amazing and will listen to your concerns if you should have any (unlike the previous principal who would argue with my husband and me until he was blue in the face) The teachers he has had since starting have all been amazing and caring teachers. The support staff is also kind and helpful as well

There are some good teachers and not so good ones as well. I think teachers should look out for the children better. My daughter had an accident and yes, I know that they are there to teach but from the time our kids step into class they are the teacher's responsibility. After falling on her head and pretty much going blind from the hit, my daughter was sent to the bathroom on her own to "wash" her face. She had to have help from another student who saw her crying because she couldn't see where she was going. To make matters worse, I got a call from the nurse half an hour later telling me my daughter had been crying the whole time. When I arrive to pick her up they tell me she had to go to the restroom so I assume she is ok. I step into the nurses office which by the way was unattended and I can't find my daughter. I go back out and then the nurse finally goes in to only find her wondering and confused. Clearly she needed special medical attention. I took her to the hospital and she ended up having a concussion. Her sleeping has changed, she wakes up multiple times every night. Nothing ticks me off more than people not doing their job properly. The district should hire better qualified nurses or at least offer some classes to educate them on the proper procedures that need be done in these cases. Very disappointed in this school and will not be enrolling my children there again. My kids are now being homeschooled and are thriving more than ever.

I have always liked this school. The teachers are amazing and very caring. I have had a child enrolled in the school for the last 6 years. 2015-2016 has been the best year yet! The new principal and assistant principal are incredible. They make every child and parent feel special and welcome. I couldn't ask for a better place to send my children to school. The dyslexia program and teacher are top notch. The teacher is a phenomenal person. I will never be able to repay her for watch she has done for my daughter and our family.

Even giving this school one star is undeserving. They were awful with my severely dyslexic son. Sending him in the hallway and telling him he's too lazy and not trying did not do a thing for him. NEWS FLASH!!!!.....HE'S SEVERELY DYSLEXIC!!!Because the teachers 'picked on' him, the children followed suit and made fun of him. It was like I was dropping my kid off to a torture session rather than school. Three years later, my son is still remembered at the lazy no good kid when he never got in trouble. When a sixth grader throws water on his pants to fake having an accident to get me to come and get him, you know it's bad. (Yes he lied, but I understand now the desperation that he was feeling to just leave.) After that I went up there and told them what had happened and said I wanted to see change in the way my son was handled and cared for. NOTHING CHANGED!!! We moved and moved him to Rockwall after that and they did more with him in three months than Forney did in three years. Lewis Elementary is a place I don't even want my son to think about and is taking years to get over.
